Q: How did these experiences change you?

A: I am aware of how fortunate I am to be living the life I have co-created with God. I cherish each moment, experience, and friend—knowing everything can change in a heartbeat.  In 2000, I was walking down the street and a guy reading tarot cards cheerily asked, “How are you doing this fine day?” to which I replied, “It’s a day.” He responded smiling, “Well, aren’t you lucky to be in the 5% of the world’s population born in the US?” That statement changed how I looked at life.  Being a woman, born in the US and living in Colorado is pretty darn good.  It doesn’t take a spiritual leader to change your life; sometimes it is just some guy on the street asking how are you.

Q: What is the biggest challenge facing society today?

A: We need more leaders—people asking questions and deciding for themselves what is truth.  When we don’t question authority, we become too willing to accept what others tell us.  The media continually feeds us fear and companies often misrepresent the truth.  Recently, I saw a pharmaceutical advertisement offering a booster pill to help your anti-depressant work better.  When I turned down the volume, the ad appeared to sell happiness.  Anti-depressants don’t make you happy; they dull your feelings.  If we don’t question what is around us, we will end up with a population of over-anxious, over-medicated followers, unable to make healthy choices.
